Spiders put in one of their best team performances of the season on this sunny Sunday morning against the team that sound as though they were named after a murderous biker gang, sweeping to a 3-1 victory.

From the first whistle, the Spiders looked lively. Seth Hayden was quickly involved, getting an early touch from a Beni Solomao long ball to settle any nerves, while Arthur Duff, the Parent's Player of the Match, showed strength and composure in defence to keep the Torquespeed strikers at bay. It was the boy Duff who made the breakthrough too. His cross into the box caused panic, took a helpful nick off a defender, and looped into the net for 1–0. We reckon he meant it...

Torquespeed responded well. Their lively number 10 made a mazy run, weaving through challenges, only to be denied by Beni, who was quickly warming to his task. Another sharp save followed soon after, this time from their number 4, as Beni swept up everything that came his way.

At the other end one of the moves of the match then unfolded—Arthur found Lorran Voltou, who played in Oliver Dovey, who slipped it through to Seth — but the keeper just about kept it out. The parents were purring now, and some of the little sisters even glanced up from their colouring session.

At the other end, Elliott Gard, who put in a real captain's performance, was throwing himself into blocks and tackles with fearless determination.

Despite the pressure, the opposition found a way back, bundling home an equaliser to make it 1–1, that would surely have at least warranted the ref looking at the screen if VAR was in play. Lorran continued to pull strings, testing the keeper from distance and again from a corner, but it remained level at the break.

The second half began with Stanley Bower deciding he’d quite like to take matters into his own hands. A surging run down the wing and a pinpoint cross found Seth, only for a defender to clear off the line. Minutes later, a near carbon copy saw the keeper make the save this time.

Elliott was at it again with a perfectly timed saving tackle, before the Spiders regained the lead. Jack delivered a superb corner, and Oliver—who seemed to be everywhere all game and put in another outstanding performance—struck it in off the post for 2–1.

Beni wasn’t done either, producing another save before launching a clearance upfield that nearly turned into an assist, with Seth volleying just over.

Then came the moment that gave the scoreline some breathing room. Stan, continuing his one-man highlight show, rounded the keeper with composure beyond his years and slotted home left-footed to make it 3–1 before sprinting to the Spiders fans to lap up the applause.

The game wasn’t over yet though. Jack took on 'last line of defence' duties twice, clearing off the line on both occasions, while Noah Osborn put in a series of strong defensive actions to keep things steady. Isla Browning combined her usual tough tackling with some confident runs forward, showing her attacking potential.

Going forward, there was still time for more attacking intent—Lorran driving down the right, Stan going close again, and Henry Rushbrook producing a moment of magic on the left to send the Torquespeed defender to Tesco for a meal deal, before seeing his volley saved at the death. Henry then combined nicely with Noah who found Jack with a fine pass, but he fired wide of the goal.

There was even time for a moment of controversy, as Stan appeared to be clipped clean through on goal… but no penalty was given. We’ll let the pundits argue that one.

Late on, Beni made yet another important save, and a frantic goalmouth scramble somehow stayed out, thanks in no small part to Jack’s latest heroic clearance.

In the end, a 3–1 win that had a bit of everything—skill, resilience, teamwork, untied laces and just enough chaos to keep everyone entertained. There were plenty of standout performances across the pitch, but it was right that the Player of the Match award went to the whole team this week. Coach Sam Rushbrook praised his POTM and Captain's contributions this week, before adding, perhaps with one eye on next season, "We will have a new home, away and training kit, So I need the sizes of the players please"
