Gt Notley Falcons v Iguanas

A very windy and very very wet start to the game today saw Great Notley Falcons win.
The Iguanas got stuck in straight away, some great tackles from Rafe and Jayden, Jake was great in defence and stopped an early chance for the falcons. Falcons went for goal and Ollie made an awesome save. The passing was really good between the boys on pitch and Cole was doing a great job at pushing the falcons wide, he was running his socks off. Falcons 1-0 up. Jayden and Rafe off, Fearne and Lewis on. All confident in their positions and keeping an eye on the ball we saw another awesome bit of passing between the boys and Fearne, the skill and confidence saw Lewis score a goal, 1-1.
Zach and Ethan now on, Jake and Cole off. A shot at goal by the falcons and a brilliant save from Ollie, throwing himself to the ball to stop it going in, bounces off him then they shoot again and scored. 2-1. Lewis had another chance to score again, zach chasing the other team down to get the ball back, pass to Lewis but it went wide. Zach has a shot at goal which was saved by the keeper. Aurora on Fearne off. Ethan standing strong and not afraid to throw himself at the ball to stop it reaching Ollie in goal.
Second half and the team was rested and ready to go again. Fantastic passing between Jayden, Cole and Jake. Cole has a shot but he just missed. Ollie having to keep a beady eye on the ball, a few corners in quick succession but with the help of Cole and Jayden there was no chance they were letting another in. Jayden and Rafe off, Fearne and Lewis on. Lewis straight on the ball pass to Jake, Jake runs the length of pitch, goes for goal but goes wide. Cole and Jake off, Ethan and zach on.
Falcons bagged their 3rd and final goal.
Heads held high Iguanas carry on.
Zach takes a fantastic corner but no one there to get it in the back of the net. Ethan doing great in defence and continues to not let that ball get past him. Fearne off Aurora on. Aurora marking up, getting the ball, pass to Lewis then onto Zach but Falcons defence stood strong.

The team should be proud of themselves today, they played so well and in my opinion they were the better team, the ball just didn’t get into the back of the net for us today. Some brilliant football from our players today, especially when the weather was wet and windy, that doesn’t ‘dampen’ their mood!

Lewis showed great skill and strength today, of course getting a goal too which always helps! He was finding space where needed and not afraid to tackle
