Witham Town Yellows v Scorpions

First game of the season all the boys buzzing. Perfect playing conditions but on a slopy pitch.
The match started with 2 minutes silence for the Queen.
Witham to kick off and they kept the ball well and were on top of us for first 10 minutes, defence George, Harry and Charlie (playing deeper than normal) had alot to deal with but held on well and playing them off side a couple of times. Witham had a quick winger causing us trouble but again managed to stop him being too dangerous.
Conner, Fankie, Bailey and Alfie battling hard in Midfield against some physical opposition.
Jayden running his socks off upfront, but at times on his own trying to hold on to the ball.
Once we got into the game we had some good chances, Alfie had a run down the right wing and crossed it in frankie just getting ahold of it and shot wide. Again Charlie playing in midfield now threading a through ball to Mason but the ball just ran away from him and their keeper picking it up. Mason holding the ball up well and trying to play players in.
Few more chances either end, Witham managing to slot one in.

Scorpions kick off, first 10 mins played alot in the middle going end to end with some half chances.
Patrick, George and Harry again holding the back and holding off the Yellows running at them.
A Witham long shot came at Tor but an unlucky catch going through his legs, 2.0 Witham.
Last 15 minutes Scorpions were on top of them. Playing the ball around, running down the wing and trying to get a cross in.
Jayden has a run on the left, tries to slot in a shot and the keepers saves but Mason was there to volley it into an open net. 2.1
Mason had a few other shots firing straight at the keeper and a free kick the keeper was unable to hold but went past the players.
An excellent play as Conner passes it out wide, Frankie crossing it, scorpions unable to get a shot off. Another few chances with Alflie crossing it in, an easy pick up for the keeper.
Jayden playing it wide, Frankie passing back into Jayden, Jayden shot blocked out for a corner.
Bailey working hard on the wing stopping and playing it out of trouble.
One of the last kicks the boys passing the ball around, they were not able to play it through a packed Witham defence so had to pass it back wards. The ball passed to Patrick who took one touch out his feet, and hit the ball 30yards out, went up high and looped down hitting the cross bar and coming back out.
The scorpions played well and battled as a team just needing to wake up from the start and one closing down as others cover and not all running to the ball. As we got into the game the boys passed the ball around well and used the width of the pitch. Scorpions battled to match the physicality of the game.

Alfie worked so hard on the wing, getting taken out several occasions or the ball kicked at him but he got back up and carried on. He worked hard making runs and getting a cross into the box. Also tracking back. Thoroughly deserved
