Weather plays its part in score draw

In absolutely atrocious conditions the Scorpions headed to Dunmow to take on our old foes the Lions.

The game started fairly scrappily with the rain and wind playing its part, but it was the blues who had the first big chance, Jake B playing through Jayden but unfortunately his shot was fired wide.

Dunmow were also looking tenacious and dangerous going forward and a few long shots came in from our opponents but they didn't trouble Tor.

The rest of the half was mainly both teams looking to break forward but cancelling eachother out. Jake B and Jake M were looking dangerous on the wings and Caspar, George and Poyraz were snapping in the tackles. The closest we came was a close range shot from Connor which hit the post and the first half ended with a fine save from Tor with his feet to bring us to half time 0-0.

Like the first half the Scorpions had the first big chance of the second half, a great first time through ball from Jake M found Mason in acres of space but his shot was slightly rushed and the save was comfortable for the keeper. A few minutes later the Lions broke forward and somehow the ball was crossed in and found its way into the back of the net. A soft goal to concede and we found ourselves trailing somewhat unfortunately. 0-1

The Scorpions however came firing back quickly, Jake B with another strong run and shot was saved by the keeper but Mason was on hand to tap home the rebound 1-1.

The game continued to be very scrappy and disjointed but both teams were showing lots of heart and passion pushing on for the winner, Tor having to make a save at full stretch keeping us in the game. The biggest chance however fell to the blues when Jake B hit the post with a nice shot and Jake M saw his 2 follow up shots saved really well from the keeper. Another nice run and squared ball from Jake M just couldn't find Jake B - so close but one of those days. Full Time 1-1

A tough game in really horrible conditions but like every week the boys gave their all. A little disjointed with our passing and positioning and a few final balls missed when we were in good positions - but again the weather was a factor in that and a draw was probably the correct result.

Connor was asked to play in a variety of positions today and got stuck in wherever he played. He had a good chance in the first half and was unlucky to not score. Well done.
