Super Scorpions win 7 in a row

With the sun beaming down, today marked our last game of the season and as fate would have it we were paired against our old foes and fellow title challengers Torquespeed Falcons.

We knew from conversations with other teams' managers this season that Torquespeed were winning the majority of their matches (we hadn't spoke to any teams that had beaten them) so we knew this was going to be a v tough game. The boys had clear instructions to go out and apply themselves and concentrate for every second of the game. With Caspar sidelined and Jake M nursing a minor sprain to his foot we were up against it before the whistle was even blown.

The boys in blue started very well with some neat passing and tenacious tackles going in all over the pitch. Jake B was strong in possession and running at the Torquespeed defence but they were clinical and broke up many of our runs. The breakthrough came from playing the ball around with Patrick finding Conner on the right. Conner controlled well and fired in a cross to Mason and a wonderful finish hitting the post and flying in made it 1-0.

The game was even for a while after that with both teams cancelling eachother out and Tor making some good decisions when collecting and distributing the ball. As the half ticked on Jake M took a nice touch and turn and was taken out by a Torquespeed defender around 5 yards outside the area. Jake M lined the ball up to take right footed (yep the foot with the sprain ?) and placed a beautiful side footed curling shot into the corner 2-0 and the players, parents and management team erupted.

A few minutes later and the Scorpions were in dreamland, Jake B hitting a vicious shot which was parried by the keeper and Jake M was on hand to tap in the rebound 3-0 at half time and the Scorpions were on fire ?

I don't have much to say regarding the second half as I literally didn't take a single note as I was so engrossed in the match. We gave away a couple of sloppy goals as Torquespeed threw the kitchen sink at us but every player in a blue Jersey gave everything. There were some nice passages of player between Mason Jake B Jake M, Conner and Archie throughout the half, however a special mention to Poyraz and George who commanded the back line and Patrick and Lucas who broke up play so well.

A world class double save from Tor with literally 5 seconds left on the clock was enough to see us over the line. A nail biting, energy zapping match but one of high quality. A fantastic result against another brilliant team and that result meant we ended the season with 7 wins on the trot which is a phenomenal achievement from all the players. Becky and I couldn't be more proud of you all. ?????? well done everyone on another fabulous season.
