Another win for the Scorpions

Today the Scorpions had a short drive to home the home of Witham Town FC in what was our first time playing against the Yellows and at this venue.

The match started fairly evenly with both sids showing some neat touches but failing to make too many clear cut opportunities. It was Witham who had the best chance of the first 15 mins but Tor made a fine save at full stretch to keep the scores level. With the sun beaming down the boys were all taken off half way through the first half for a water break and subs were made to try freshen things up. It clicked straight away when a nice run and pass from Archie found Patrick in the centre and a cracking shot from some distance nestled into the net - 1-0.

Witham were proving to be a very physical with some of our players literally bouncing off some of theirs (some legal ....some not so legal), but the blues certainly didn't let it bother them as they continued to be strong, kept their composre and met fire with fire with battles happening all over the pitch.

The Scoropions pressed on and slowly started to get on top. Shots from Archie, Mason, Caspar and Connor were all saved but the Yellows were still dangerous and a good counter called Tor into action to make another very good save.

Just as the half was coming to an end some sloppy play saw the Yellows break 1 on 1 with Tor and a composed finish saw a somewhat unjust equaliser. 1-1 at HT.

The second half started well from the Scoroions and it wasn't long before we were back in front, a lovely ball from George into Jake M saw him calmly slot home to make it 2-1. Within a flash it was 3-1 as Archie played a beautiful throughball to Jake M and he made no mistake smashing hard past the helpless keeper to claim his second of the game.

The Yellows continued to probe but the Scorpions were defending well all over the pitch - Caspar and Poyraz were particularly commanding today against tough opposition and really kept things steady throughout the game with some incredible defending.

The final goal came which finished off the Yellows, a beautiful drilled shot into the bottom corner from Jake B giving the keeper no chance. 4-1 and a well deserved, but hard fought win.

A great result against another Witham team who have played a lot of football in the Balckwater division. A very strong physical team with some talented players but today the blues were just too good with excellent performances all round. With a lot of players today we mixed things up with Lucas playing further up the pitch and a rare stint in defence for Jake M as he agreed to plug a gap allowing others to play in different positions. Everyone put in 100% effort and although a little scrappy at times we played the better football and certainly deserved the win. Well done boys

A huge effort from both players today. George continually broke up play and played some lovely passes and got a great assist. Lucas was on the end of some very physical challenges playing further up the pitch but really put a shift in and worked so hard. Well done both.
