Blues dominate White

Today we hosted Tiptree Jobserve Whites at Deanery Hill, a team that have recently come down from the Blackwater Division and whom we had never played before.

Not knowing what to expect the Scorpions started fast playing the ball around as well as we ever have and making all the early play. That Scorpions pressure resulted in countless corners that were all swung in brilliantly, but we just couldn't get a final touch to get a well deserved lead.

With Conner, Jake M and Mason linking up really well chance after chance went by with the Tiptree keeper in quite inspired form - Mason and Jake M both had excellent opportunities only to be denied by classy saves.

With Jake B coming on The Scorpions continued to have wave and wave of attacks but Tiptree were defending resolutely, and further saves and last ditch clearances off the line were the trend of the first 20 mins. Another good effort saw Jake M hit a shot that looked destined for the top right corner only for the keeper to somehow claw it away for yet another corner.

With Tor and most of the defence practically bystanders the Scorpions finally got their reward, a corner was swung in and cleared but as it looped up a header from Conner was saved only for the rebound to be headed again by Conner, but this time into an empty net. 1-0

A rare breakaway from Tiptree saw them awarded a freekick. Although hit well a good stop from Tor kept the scores level. As the Scorpions pressed another good effort from Mason was blocked on the line and Patrick hit a speculative 25 yard shot which bounced off the bar... further shots from Jake B and Jake M were saved and it was incredible that we only went in1 nil up at HT.

At HT it was all about concentration and focus for the team in blue and more goals would come. Tiptree came out and had a little more of the ball but the tie was pretty much wrapped up when a lovely run from Jake B saw him cut back and finish beautifully 2-0.

More excellent opportunities came our way with Jake B Jake M seeing more shots saved and others sail wide but it wasn't long before the 3rd goal rattled in with another fine finish from Jake B.

Although we dominated the ball Caspar, George, Lucas and Poyraz all did their jobs very well today with lots of covering at the back, good passing and really good positioning. Lucas made a superb clearance as he chested the ball down and got a pass away after Jobserve hit a high long ball up pitch.

A beautiful run from Jake M from virtually his own goal line saw him take on multiple players and find Mason in the box but his effort flew just wide of the post and another late effort from Mason was struck well but saved yet again from the Tiptree keeper. 3-0 FT

A very very dominant performance today against a team playing in the top division just a few months ago. Every player contributed today and some of the passing and interplay were a joy to watch. The only criticism we can have today is that we probably should have scored over 10 goals and we do need to be more clinical but that being said their keeper made some brilliant saves and we had 2 or 3 shots cleared off the line. Great performance Scorpions, on to next week.

A very good performance today from Conner. It was his brave double header that opened the scoring and settled the nerves but aside from his goals he made some excellent tackles up the pitch and always had his head up looking for a pass. A very assured performance, well done Conner.
