Dragons 2 – 2 Scorpions
Angus Jake
Logan Archie

A trip to the Dragons den today for the Scorpions in another highly anticipated Sporting 77 derby.

The match started brightly for both teams and straight away you could tell the match was going to be an end to end thriller. The Scorpions had some early opportunities with George and Archie going close and the Dragons were also looking dangerous with the lively Logan causing problems for the Scorpions defence.

Without too many clear cut goal scoring opportunities being created the deadlock was finally broken half way through the first half with a truly wonderful strike from Angus - smashing the ball from distance into the top left hand corning leaving Tor with absolutely no chance. 1-0

Just seconds later and a Dragons free-kick just outside the Scorpions area was smashed by Angus looking for his second. With Tor flying across his goal the ball clipped the post and flew wide.

The effort from both teams was absolutely immense and the remainder of the half saw both teams looking for goals but the half ended with the Dragons leading by a single goal.

The Scorpions came out for the second half with great determination and an early corner was awarded after more good play. A great delivery into the 6 yard box from Mason saw Jake wiggle away from Jenson to poke to ball into the corner for the equaliser - 1-1 and game on.

Shortly after the equaliser a fantastic piece of individual play from Logan saw him edge the Dragon ahead once again. A terrific run from near the half way line saw him gliding past the Scorpions defence and with just the keeper to beat a composed finish under the on-rushing Tor made it 2-1. A great run and finish.

Seconds later another chance fell to Logan but just as he was about to pull the trigger some great tracking back from Archie snuffed out danger. From the corner the Scorpions hit the Dragons on the counter attack and it was Archie getting on the end of a nice move, finishing low into the corner to make it 2-2.

The match was being played at a frantic tempo with goal kicks being smacked forward and desperate defending as both teams looked to give nothing away. I could mention every single player from both teams in regards to working hard and getting involved as both the Dragons and Scorpions continued to push forward - but a winning goal wasn't to be and as the full time whistle blew a draw felt like a fair result.

A hugely enjoyable match today (now it's over). It was end to end for the whole 40 minutes with both teams giving their absolute all. We saw fantastic goals, fantastic saves and crunching tackles and with the pitch slightly boggy both teams played good football which made for a hugely entertaining spectacle - A huge well done to every player today it was a brilliant game of football.

Scorpion of the match - Lucas

One of his best matches in a Scorpions shirt. He was in the thick of everything and showed great strength on the ball. He was always looking forward to get the team on the attack and made some great passes today. Well done Lucas keep it up!

Dragon of the match – Logan Fremantle

Every Dragon a candidate for this award today but Logan scoring that truly phenomenal goal was hard to ignore ! Well done Logan !
