Scorpions stand tall over Giants

Scorpions 4-0 Hatfield Peveral Giants
Archie (2)
George
Jake

A beautiful morning at Tabor today as we started our double header weekend against the Hatfield Peveral Giants.

The boys started very well and quickly gained confidence by keeping possession by playing the ball around. Patrick was looking particularly good in the early stages, and it wasn't long before one of his passes found Archie in space but his shot went just wide. Another Archie effort whizzed past the post but it was third time lucky, as our master marksman finished low into the corner to make it 1-0

More sustained pressure from the Scorpions resulted in an early corner. George whipped in a terrific ball which cannoned off a defender into the net. 2-0. After a lengthy delay (we had an upset opposition defender) the game restarted and it was testament to the boys that they kept their concentration and kept pushing forward and on the front foot. A deserved third goal came when a lovely run from Jake was finished hard into the bottom corner. 3-0 at Half Time

It was much the same in the second half, Lucus was holding onto possession brilliantly today, always wriggling his way free and finding a good pass. Jake, Patrick and Archie were all working so hard for the team and Tor and George were breaking up play well when slotting in at the back. The star of the second half was Poyraz who volunteered to go in goal and made some amazingly brave saves. Also a special note to George who threw his body in the way of a shot and stopped a certain goal - amazing! Mason kept pressuring the defenders and that forced the errors that kept putting us on the attack.

Some further shots from Mason from distance just couldn't find the target but it was Archie that put the game well and truly to bed with another typical finish to make it a very comfortable 4-0 win. Well played to everyone today. Lots of chances for more goals but we kept our shape, the passing was much better than last week and we took the win with little danger on our own goal. Really well done.

Scorpion of the match - Mason

Kept plugging away, showed a lot of commitment and was really unlucky not to find the net. He's pressuring of the defence was really impressive today and that set up many of our attacking moves. Well done.
