Set pieces the difference as the Scorpions come out on top

The first half was evenly contested with most the ball being played in the middle of the park. It wasn't until the 15 minute mark until we had the first piece of goal mouth action, George swinging in a great corner only for Jake to fail to connect with his shot. That was a sign of things to come for the remainder of the half as the Scorpions kept on the front foot. Another in-swinging corner from George caused all sorts of problems for the Falcons defence but they managed to just scrambled the ball clear.

With the Scorpions well on top another good piece of play resulted in yet another corner to the away side. George clearly had his crossing boots on today as another fantastic delivery was this time converted by Tor with a composed finish. 1-0 to the Scorpions at half time and a deserved lead.

The Scorpions were starting to show their superiority in the second half, holding onto possession well and showing more composure on the ball. After some nice build up play a quick throw from Jake sent Caspar through on goal but his snap shot was fired wide. The Falcons had some rare attacking moments in the second half but the Strength of Tor and Poyraz was proving difficult for the Falcons to break down. The few times they did manage with some shots on target Tor was composed and made some solid saves in goal.

With Jake and Caspar combing well in the second half some neat play resulted in another corner to the blues. Jake's first attempt caused all sorts of confusion at the back and a deflection sent the ball just wide of the post. Another corner saw Jake place the ball very deliberately as he whipped in a devilish ball to the near post. This time the Falcons simply couldn't deal with it and it was deflected into the net. 2-0.

As the minutes ticked on the effort the Scorpions had put into the match started to show as they tired a little. A corner right at the death for the home side fell to the Falcons' tricky number 7 and he fired a looping shot over the head of Tor just before the final whistle. 2-1 Full time.

A great win for the Scorpions today. A team that beat us convincingly 3-1 just 2 months ago were completely outfought today. Tor and Poyraz at the back always looked control, George played some nice passes and put in some wonderful deliveries from corner kicks. Lucas as always showed some lovely neat touches and Caspar caused the Falcons' defence a lot of problems. Well done Scorpions, another great effort and result.

Player of the Match – Jake. His second man of the match award against the Falcons. Another commanding performance running all over the pitch and played two killer balls putting his team mates through in goal. Two terrific corners in the second half (one resulting in a goal) capped off a great effort. Well done.
