Hoodoo continues with another last gasp winner for the visitors

Scorpions v Rayne
Jake
Mason

A very entertaining game today as both teams went on the attack looking for goals. The Scorpions showed their intent early on with some nice running with the ball from Lucas and an early shot from Jake going just wide. But it was the visitors who took the lead with a nice and run and finish to make 1-0.

The Scorpions kept pressing and a free kick from Mason was heading towards the target but was blocked and cleared by the Rayne defence. Some more great dribbling from Lucas was taking the pressure off the Scorpions back line but some heavy tackles kept breaking up the play.

Another shot from Mason was well saved as the Scorpions continued to try find the equaliser, but it wasn't all one way traffic as Rayne Youth also had some good opportunities. Poyraz was called into action to some great tackles and Tor and Charlie were both solid in defence and goal respectively. As the Scorpions were building up some momentum it was a Rayne break that caught the Scorpions off guard, and another neat finish made it 2-0 to the away side.

Just before the break a nice run through the middle from Jake presented a goal scoring opportunity, and the goal scoring drought was finally ended as he finished high into the net just before half time to make it 2-1. All to play for in the second half.

The Scorpions came out for the second half with intent, Poyraz and Jake both seeing efforts saved early on. A fantastic run from Poyraz saw a another good chance, but he dragged his shot just wide - but the equaliser wasn't too far away. A mazy run from Jake down the left saw him square the ball to Mason, and he made no mistake to make it level, 2-2 - a very well worked goal between the two forward players.

As the game appeared to be heading towards a draw, Rayne, as they did in the last fixture, managed to nick a goal right at the death leaving George with no chance. It was hard on the Scorpions as they put in a tremendous effort and they should all be proud of their performances today. An inspired second half performance from the Rayne Youth goalkeeper was the difference today in what was a very enjoyable match.

Player of the match - Lucas. Showed some magical touches in the middle of the park. A frustrated Rayne hacked him down on many occasions but kept getting up and played fantastically well. Well done.
