SWF United Reds v Sporting 77 Scorpions

Another tough defeat for the Scorpions today but not through lack of effort.

The game started brightly for both teams with a lot of the ball being played around in the middle of the park. Some early Scorpions pressure lead to a shot from Jake but it lacked power to trouble the keeper. The Reds then created a few chances but stand in goalkeeper Charlie was very composed between the posts and made the saves look comfortable. The deadlock was finally broken half way through the first half. A Scorpions Free Kick appeared to come to nothing but a snap shot from Jake struck the post, just seconds after that effort the Scorpions were caught on the break and the SWF Reds striker made no mistake to slot home the finish. The Scorpions continued to battle and a great run from Lucas almost resulted in a shot on target but for a last ditch tackle. As the half was coming to an close the Scorpions was caught twice on the break and the clinical finishing of the Reds was the difference ... 3-0 at half time.

The second half was similar to the first. More missed chances from Jake and Poyraz with their shots being saved, and a great shot from Charlie flying just wide of the post. Some good defending from Tor and Poyraz kept the Reds at bay and Mason and Charlie kept trying to get the ball forward. Two late goals flattered the Reds with the game finishing 5-0 to the home side. Player of the match - Lucas. Made some great battling runs and kept possession well. Played in goal in the second half and made some crucial saves. Well done.
