Another tough defeat for the Scorpions today in what was a closer match that the score line suggests.
The Scorpions started the match very well having the lions share of possession and came close to opening the scoring early when Patrick fired into the side netting. The Scorpions continued to press with Charlie making a good run only for the defender to make a last ditch tackle. Some neat turns from Jake and some good runs from Lucas didn't result in any clear goal scoring chances, but after a succession of corners the deadlock was finally broken - a well delivered corner from Poyraz was converted by Charlie with a neat finish.
The Scorpions continued to apply the pressure but SWF Panthers slowly started to come into the game, and a great last ditch tackle from Tor denied a certain goal scoring opportunity for our opponents. Poyraz continued to make some crunching tackles but eventually a deserved equaliser came. Some static defending from a SWF Panthers corner allowed for an easy finish to make it 1-1. Just before half time another attack ended with SWF Panthers making it 2-1, but not before Tor made another excellent tackle.
The second half saw SWF Panthers have more of the ball. Some sloppy play from the Scorpions gave possession away far too often, and they were punished, finding themselves 4-1 adrift with 10 minutes to play. Caspar was also called on to make some great saves.
A fantastic penalty from Patrick gave the Scorpions some hope, but in pressing high for more goals they were caught twice, with the game ending 6-2.
Man of the Match - Lucas - Did as instructed sticking close to the line and making good runs into space from kick off. Battled hard and continued to push forward looking for goals. A great effort - Well done.
