A superb first half performance was enough to see the Scorpions claim an excellent victory against a resilient Dunmow Rhodes Lions.
An early corner for the Scorpions set the tone for the first half, with Tor's excellent delivery being deflected just wide of the post. The Scorpions continued to boss possession and soon opened the scoring with Tor playing the ball through to Jake who ran onto the ball and finished well with a shot under the keeper.
A second goal soon followed after good attacking play by both George and Lucas resulted in the loose ball being tucked away neatly by Jake to claim his second goal of the match.
A good corner from George almost resulted in third after the ball flashed across the face of the goal, but it wasn't long before the Scorpions found the net again. Some great defending by Poyraz broke up a promising Dunmow Rhodes attack. He then played the ball through to Tor who ran and hit a powerful shot into the bottom corner leaving the keeper no chance. A great goal and a fitting end to a dominant first half performance.
Dunmow Rhodes came into the match more in the second half. An early attack saw them break well to get one back. Casper was then called into action to make a fantastic save high to his left to keep the score at 3-1. A powerful volley saw Dunmow Rhodes score a second, and another great save by Casper kept the Scorpions ahead.
The Scorpions then rallied with Mason and George battling really hard in midfield, and the game ended with the Scorpions back on the attack, notably both George and Poyraz making great runs through on goal but just being unable to get a shot on target.
A fantastic effort by the whole team today – Well done Scorpions.
