First league match

A fantastic opening day victory for the Scorpions which saw them snatch victory with virtually the last kick of the game. After a slow start and two early goals for the home side, the Scorpions found themselves really up against it. The boys continued to battle away and soak up further pressure for the next 5 minutes but rallied well and warmed into the match. After a few half chances the deficit was finally halved just before the break with Jake producing a neat finish into the bottom corner. The second half started in similar fashion with the Scorpions soaking up more pressure, but some outstanding defending from Poyraz and some important saves from Patrick kept the Scorpions in the game. Midway through the second half the tide turned, and after some sustained pressure Patrick levelled the scores with an accomplished finish past the opposition keeper. Deep into the second half the Scorpions produced their best move of the match, playing out from goal with all 5 players playing a part as Patrick found himself 1 on 1 with the keeper. Another Powerful finish appeared to cross the line only for the referee somehow call “no goal” in what was a somewhat suspect decision! Not to be denied the Scorpions kept going, and with some great tenacity shown by Tor and some neat touches from Lucas, Patrick once again found himself 1 on 1 with the keeper. This time he took the decision out of the referee's hands with a fantastic finish under pressure with just seconds remaining before the final whistle was blown.
