The Dragons visited Tiptree, who were sitting 2nd in the league and have always been a tough opponent.

The Dragons started poorly, no discipline, no shape and the Tiptree team played on their terms. With tough tackling they won most of the balls and scored early on. The Dragons heads were not in the game, it was like they had been out at fireworks and not slept. Some good defending and sweeping by both Sam and Hudson kept the Dragons in the game. The midfield had huge holes and it was long balls and out to the wing every time Tiptree countered. Poor Oli in goal pulled off some amazing saves to keep the score intact however, the law of averages meant one would get through, despite his best effort to save them all, one shot had too much power and ricochet in to the net. The third came shortly after, another counter and a well taken third goal. Half time could not come soon enough, heads down, had enough? 3-0 Tiptree.

The second half kicked off and the Dragons started with a good press. Wow, did not see that coming and neither did Tiptree. It was the captain Angus who started the comeback. He picked up the ball and drove at the defence from the wing. He hit a low shot hard past the keeper. Goal! Tiptree tried to respond but everything they threw at the Dragons was cleared by the defence and the midfield had a rough edge and were throwing into the tackles. Some smart passing through the middle followed and Jenson was in, left footed into the bottom right corner, goal! 3-2, surely not! It was a frantic back and forth game but flowing well. The Dragons had taken the game by the scruff and was in command of the game. Winning corners and Hudson launching the long balls were causing issues for Tiptree, so much so that a long throw was hit across the box to find a waiting Angus, bang! It was 3-3!
They've pulled it back, less than 10 minutes left. We were happy to take the draw...except for the captain.
Again, Hudson started a sequence of long throws that Tiptree just couldn't defend. The Dragons gained a corner. Up stepped Angus to take. The ball is floated to the back post, no one met it but it curled into the back of the net! Goal! Would you believe the comeback! 4-3! Angus had his hat-trick!
The Dragons defended the last few minutes to earn the win. A tales of two halves and one for the neutral.
