Dragons come out on top

Jenson
Logan
Harrison
Today, the Dragons were back at the Chelmer Park; this time to face Galleywood Youth “Hawks” on a bright clear day. The Dragons kicked off and very quickly the Hawks showed that they were not going to make things easy. The ball frequently moved from one end of the pitch to the other. Zach came in with a few early shots but couldn’t get it past the keeper and with one shot ricocheting off the cross bar. At the other end of the pitch, the Hawks’ number 17 posed a constant threat on the right wing supported by their number 8.
About five minutes in however Jenson scored from a magnificent corner with the ball coming into the goal at a very shallow angle. One Nil to Dragons! Unfortunately, the home team managed to level up shortly after by outwitting a muddled defence. Roo managed to block the first shot, but a second Hawk was ready to knock it in for 1-1.
Despite a tough opponent, the Dragons managed two more goals in the first half - from Logan and Harrison respectively. The 3-1 lead remained throughout the second half as both teams continued to push on. Again, the Dragons demonstrated some excellent passing skills and teamwork this week, but we were grateful to end on a 3-1 win against a difficult opponent.
Dragon of the week was Roo who protected the goal on many occasions and without whom the result could have easily turned the other way. The Dragons may need to look at upping the quality of their defence if they are to maintain their unblemished record this season. A great game though and bravo to the whole team.
