High tempo end to end game of football!

Jenson
Own Goal* (big appealed for by Jenson)

A beautiful sunny, warm and calm morning over the Dragon's Den in Wethersfield greeted both teams. The pitch looking in pristine condition, the stage was set for what would be a very high tempo end to end game of football!
Dragon's warmed up in a unnervingly quiet manner, telling me they were just focused on the job at hand. The way the started the game told me they weren't lying. Jenson "The Machine" was in full force in midfield winning 2 early 50/50 challenges and playing the ball to Logan who was dispossessed by the Dunmow defender only for the ball to fall to Jenson to tap through into space one on one with the keeper to slot home for a lead in just 30 seconds! Great start for the Dragons.
The determination was there as they hounded the visitors in numbers, conceding a freekick on half way. You'd think harmless enough but the strike from distance flew in to equalise. Straight from kick off the game turned on its head with another long punt forward evading our stand in goalkeeper Sam. 1-2.
The game was fast and frantic with the ball end to end but the visitors extended their lead to 1-3 with another long range strike finding the target. The performance level was there still for the Dragons who's head didn't drop, the last two results you'd have forgiven them for letting their heads go but they didn't. Chance for Logan, thwarted by the keeper and Harrison firing just wide as the momentum built. Another attack forced a corner, Jenson stepped up and curled the ball in, knocked over the line by the Dunmow defender despite Jenson running back arm raised! 2-3.
Pearcey and Zack starting us on another attack, however a long clearance found the Dunmow winger who chanced his luck from wide and found the bottom corner for 2-4.
A breathless first half came to a close with the Dragons trailing at the interval.
Second half was end to end again. Angus driving forward played the ball to Zack, his fierce strike saved by the goalkeeper. SB tidied up at the back stopping a Dunmow attack, his pass found Logan and then in turn played in Harrison, his blocked effort fell to Zack who fired just wide. Pearcey getting red faced in the middle putting everything in for his team and Ryan fighting for every loose ball, strongly holding off his far bigger physically opponent.
A tight second half ended goaless with the full-time score 2-4. The Dragons battling well all over the pitch against a taller and very physical side.
Dragon of the Week - Angus Threadgold
One of our giants on the pitch today, a big performance from our number 4. Well done Angus!
