And we're back! Rested and well fed and watered from our Christmas and New Year festivities, the Dragons started their new Spring League with an away trip to Silver End.

A tight opening saw the hosts make the early breakthrough, Pearcy making a fine double save but couldn't quite keep it from crossing the goaline agonisingly. Straight from kick off Jenson found Roo and twisted and turned past 2 players and slammed in the equaliser! Look comfortable now the Dragons confidence began to grow with Ryan making some fine tackles and passing the ball on quickly for Roo to fire in for a 2-1 lead! Roo was bossing the right side of the pitch and promptly completed his hat-trick, a super opening 10 minutes from our number 6! The hosts would pull one back for 3-2 shortly after. Changes made and some fresh legs onto the sticky pitch saw Logan, new boots and all, introduced on the left. Logan went close instantly with his lethal left foot. However it was his unfavoured right foot that scored our fourth, twisting the last defending, cutting inside and slotting in the far corner for 4-2 at the break!

Second half the Dragons wanted to keep going for more goals. It took a while but a corner from the training ground saw Ryan signal a short corner, Jenson meet the ball turn inside to shoot through the goalkeepers legs for 5-2. Tired legs began to kick in and Josh SB, playing in defence, was left with too much to do on his own and Silver End began to get lots of chances. A last ditch Pearcey tackle couldn't prevent 5-3 and then 5-4 follwed and before we knew it our 3 goal cushion had gone and it was 5-5. Zack kept battling for the ball but despite the Dragons best efforts the "run of the green" wasn't with them second half and every loose ball or deflection seemed to go against them, so that's how it stayed.

First games back after Christmas are never easy, you could see the boys tiring carrying the extra mud around on their boots but the positives were there beforehand. Lots of good passing, moving and of course goals on top! Training next week and try again on Sunday!
