We knew we would be in for a difficult game today against the strongest opposition in the league. You wouldn't think it after the way we started though, after a bizarre start with Rylee losing a tooth when about to take kick off a very open start to the game commenced with possession slightly in our favour. We created 3 clear cut chances, twice denied by super saves from Rhodes 'keeper, one from Rylee and one from Kian. Kian again dribbling through the Dunmow team before denied again this time beating the goalkeeper to be denied by the woodwork. As we pressed looking for a break through we were caught with a swift counter and found ourselves 1-0 down. Rhodes scored a quick second which knocked the momentum out of the Dragons start. From the restart they came at us again, unfortunately Conor reactively put his arm up to deny a Dunmow shot resulting in a penalty being awarded and us going into the break 3-0 behind. After standing toe to toe for the majority of the half it was hard to take a scoreline like that at the interval.
Second half the boys kept their heads up and carried on as they started the first half. We road our luck a little at the back but we got the reward for sustaining the effort the boys were putting in. Kian again proving the thorn in Dunmow' s side bursting through the middle before firing into the top corner. Dragons had hope and belief they could come back and get a result. Roo drive forward with Jenson and won a corner immediately after the restart. Dunmow countered swiftly again and we found ourselves 4-1 down. Despite the boys best efforts we got picked off at the back eventually losing 7-1.
That's 4 on the bounce unfortunately, but the results will turn. The performances haven't been bad especially the last 2 games so I am confident we'll get a win again soon.
