Dragons lose out in close game

Jenson
Rylee
Ryan

Following last week's postponement the boys were all keen to get back out on the pitch a put the last 2 games results behind them. The last 2 weeks training sessions the boys have all knuckled down and trained well, and today's performance was testament to their efforts apart from the obvious scoreline.

We started well and put Wilvale under pressure from the off, twice going close before breaking the deadlock with Jenson "The Machine" battling for the ball in Wilvales box before tucking the ball past the goalkeeper to give us the lead. Wilvale replied almost straight away with a long effort which George unfortunately couldn't keep out in goal. George did however make a couple of very brave important saves before the end of the half! A very entertaining end to end first half came to a close at 1-1.

Second half all I asked was for more of the same from the boys - go out there enjoy your football and keep moving so we didn't get cold. They didn't disappoint. After falling behind 2-1 it was our turn to reply instantly with Rylee weaving in the box and firing home from a tight angle. Kian then went close to putting us in front with a well struck freekick narrowly going wide but we had our tails up. Caught on the counter by Wilvale we found ourselves 3-2 behind a real cracking game to watch. The Dragons kept their heads up and carried on playing their football, Roo leading the charge with the second half changes. Ryan got his reward for taking up a good space in the box to get the ball over the line for 3-3. The game was really open and a superb solo strike for the Wilvale player gave them the lead. They added a 5th direct from a corner to add gloss to the scoreline.

All in all, I am far from disappointed this week. Every single Dragon put in a performance today and I can't ask anymore than that from them. It's a loss again but I hope, like me, they are atleast proud of the effort they put in today. Well done boys!

Dragon of the Week - Riley "Roo" Moffat
Fought, battled, twisted, turned, passed and ran his socks off, a performance worthy of that captains armband next week! Well done Roo!
