Sporting 77 v Broomfield

On a windy day the Wildcats played their first game. Playing against the wind in the first half, both sides took time to adjust. The early exchanges were even, both sides attacking but not creating clear cut chances. Lola in goal was quick off her line to smother the ball on a number of occasions. Sierra was intercepting the ball and making good runs forward, showing great skills to get away from Broomfield. Aurora came on and made a good run from inside her half to the edge of the Broomfield penalty box but could not get her shot away.
After 6 minutes Maddison powered into the Broomfield box and finished nicely. Broomfield equalised, but undeterred Sporting hit back when Abbie scored after a good passing movement. Before half-time Broomfield scored an equalised to go into half time all square.
In the second half, playing with the wind, Sporting started on the front foot. It took just 2 minutes before Abbie scored her second goal. Maddison added another 2 for her hat-trick after 4 minutes and 8 minutes. Lola then got on the score sheet after a shot hit the post, it came out to Lola who slotted home confidently. Aurora in goal had to make a couple of saves, and Broomfiled scored their 4th goal to get them back in the game. But Sporting finished strongly with Fearne-Dolly scoring a brace of goals.
For their first game together the girls played extremely well, showing good skills on the ball, beating opponents and playing good passing flowing football. They were strong in the tackle and quick to get up and down the pitch. All the girls were awarded the player of match award.
